The challenge

FAA program offices had no single, easy-to-reach place to host the reports they relied on for decisions and collaboration across offices. Reports moved around as email attachments or sat on legacy network drives, so the current version was hard to find — and often not the one people were working from.

Fixing that was as much about how people worked as about technology. A new system would only help if offices actually adopted it and trusted it as the place reports lived.

The solution

DCLS designed, created, and launched cloud-based SharePoint Online sites as a single access point for FAA reporting. Staff across offices could upload a report once, to a known location, and everyone else could find the current version without chasing an email thread or a network-drive path.

Adoption was run as a change-management effort, not a launch announcement. DCLS trained and onboarded employees onto the new process, worked through each office's existing habits, and supported the transition until publishing to SharePoint was the default rather than the exception.

To make the same platform the place for analysis as well as storage, DCLS integrated the SharePoint sites with Power BI and Tableau dashboards, so reporting and the analytics built on it lived together instead of in separate tools. Alongside the reporting hub, DCLS migrated existing content onto the new platform and built a set of custom Power Platform applications and automated workflows for tasks offices had been handling by hand.

The results

  • One cloud-based access point for FAA reports, replacing scattered email attachments and legacy network-drive folders.
  • 30+ SharePoint Online pages created, with a trained user base and a change-management process that moved program offices onto the new way of working.
  • SharePoint integrated with Power BI and Tableau dashboards, centralizing reporting and analysis in one place.
  • Content migrations and a portfolio of custom Power Platform applications delivered alongside the reporting hub.
